Unit 1 Present continuous (I am doing)


I am doing something = I'm in the middle of doing it; I've started doing it and I haven't finished yet.

무언가를 하는 중간에 있을 때, 현재 진행형을 씁니다. 즉, 무언가를 시작했지만, 아직 끝내지 못한 상태에 있을 때 현재 진행형을 쓰게 됩니다.

Please don't make so much noise. I'm trying to work. (not I try)

I'm trying to work = I'm in the middle of trying to work; I've started trying to work and I haven't finished yet. 의 의미가 되죠.

그렇다고 말하는 시점에 행동이 반드시 일어나는 중 일 필요는 없습니다. 예를 들면,

Steve is talking to a friend on the phone. He says:

I'm reading a really goo bot at the moment. It's about a man who ...

Steve 는 말하고 있는 중에 책을 읽고 있지는 않습니다. 그가 의미하는 것은 책을 읽기 시작했고, 아직 다 읽지 못했다는 것입니다.
그는 책을 읽는 중간에 있습니다.

현재 진행형은 today / this week / this year 등과 쓸 수 있습니다. (기간이 현재 근처일 때)
You're working hard today. (not You work hard today)

현재 진행형은 현재 근처에서 일어나는 변화에 대해서 얘기할 때 특히, 아래 동사와 함께 쓸 수 있습니다.
